Benefits of Dental Braces and Other Orthodontic Treatment

Two young girls smiling, one with bracesHere at Firestone Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, we know that patients who are proud of their smiles and confident to show them off will benefit from better self-esteem and tend to be happier with their overall appearance. If your child is ashamed of his or her smile, it can lead to low self-esteem, anti-social tendencies, and embarrassment.

According to the American Association of Orthodontics, around 75% of the American population has crooked or misaligned teeth and could benefit from orthodontic treatment. Don’t let your child become one of these statistics.

Benefits of Dental Braces

While the most obvious benefit of dental braces or other forms of orthodontic treatment is a beautiful, straight smile, there are other benefits including the following:

  • Easier to chew food properly
  • Straight teeth will allow your teeth to fit together more comfortably
  • Correcting the position of the teeth can improve or eliminate certain speech problems
  • Straighter teeth are easier to keep clean, meaning that straight teeth are often healthier teeth
  • Lastly, good oral health has been linked with good overall health

If you believe that your child may benefit from orthodontic treatment, please contact Firestone Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. There are many different types of orthodontic treatment available now that haven’t always been available in the past. If you have concerns about the cost of orthodontic treatment, please let us know and we can discuss payment plans with you.
