Counting Down the Days Until the Braces Come Off!

Childs mouth open with bracesWhile braces are a great way to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted, they can be time-consuming and uncomfortable. We know that the time you spend with orthodontic treatment is an investment, especially because the common length of orthodontic treatment is between 18 months to 2 years.

Creative Ways to Count Down Your Braces Time

It can be exciting when you get close to being done with your braces! Below are a few fun ways to count down the days:

  • Use a countdown app – There are plenty of countdown apps available to download on your phone. All you have to do is type in the expected date of removal for your braces and the app will calculate the remaining time. Set this countdown as your phone background and start counting the days!
  • Schedule rewards – Plan rewards for yourself to help the time go by more quickly. Treat yourself to something each month you have to have your braces on. This could be an ice cream treat, a pedicure, or anything else you enjoy. 18 trips to the movies sounds a lot less daunting than 18 months with braces on.
  • Use a wall calendar – The simplest and most traditional way of counting down is by using a regular wall calendar. You can create a personalized wall calendar online and cross off each day at the end of the day.
  • Find a braces buddy – As a teen, the odds are good that you have friends who are undergoing orthodontic treatment at the same time as you. Find a braces buddy you can celebrate milestones with and encourage one another!

No matter how you choose to count down the time, we know that the end result will be worth all the hard work you’ve put into your orthodontic treatment. Please contact Firestone Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics to make an appointment today. Our office is located here in Firestone, Colorado.
