Easy Ways to Increase the Amount of Water You Drink

Pouring WaterIt’s frightening to learn that around 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. In addition to being bad for your overall health, dehydration can also damage your oral health. This is because water helps to strengthen teeth, fight dry mouth, wash away sugar and food debris, and stimulate the production of saliva.

How to Drink More Water

Below are a few ways to help increase your water consumption:

  • Keep water around – Keeping water around will increase the likelihood that you’ll drink it! Keep water at your desk, in your car, in your backpack, and at home. We suggest purchasing a reusable water bottle to cut down on waste.
  • Add water to your skin-care routine – If your overall or dental health isn’t enough to motivate you to drink more water, consider your skin. Drinking lots of water is great for your complexion, so consider drinking water a part of your daily skincare routine.
  • Keep track of how much you should be drinking – Put marks on your water bottle letting you know how much water you should have consumed by certain times of the day. For example, you should have 4oz by 10 am, 8oz by noon, and so on. This makes it easy to keep track of how much you’re drinking.
  • Drink a glass of water before meals – Lastly, drinking a full glass of water before meals will help you stay hydrated, and will also help you cut down on calories. Drinking water before meals helps you feel fuller, allowing you to shed those last few pounds!
