Questions to Ask Your Child’s Dentist

Child in dental chairIf you’re looking to make the most out of your child’s next visit to Firestone Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, there are a few questions you can ask in order to learn as much as you can about your child’s dental health. We put a strong emphasis on patient education and we know that the more educated you are about your child’s oral health, the better you’ll be able to care for it and make informed decisions.

Questions to Ask Your Child’s Dentist

Below are three great questions you may want to consider asking at your child’s next visit to our office:

  • How is my child’s overall dental health?

Asking this question can help you get a better idea of what you’re doing well and what you could be working on to improve your child’s oral health. This question can also help you gain some insight into other areas of your child’s lifestyle or health that could be contributing to his or her oral health.

  • How can I help improve my child’s dental health?

Make sure you’re following through on any treatment that your child’s dentist recommends. Additionally, your child’s dentist can let you know if you’re brushing and flossing correctly or if any part of your child’s at-home oral hygiene habits needs to change.

  • Does my child have symptoms of non-dental medical issues?

Lastly, your child’s oral health is very closely linked to his or her overall health. A pediatric dentist may be able to spot the signs of a non-dental medical issue in your child and let you know whether he or she needs to be seen by a pediatrician.

If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s oral health, please don’t hesitate to ask. Let us know of any changes in your child’s mouth, teeth, or soft tissues. Even if it doesn’t seem like a big deal to you, it could be a symptom of something more serious.

To make an appointment for your child to receive a dental cleaning or a checkup, please don’t hesitate to contact Firestone Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics. Our children’s dental office is located here in Firestone, Colorado.
