Being Thankful Is Good For Your Health
Thanksgiving is a great time to take stock of all that you have and
express gratitude for these things. However, new research is showing
that being thankful can positively impact your health in a number of
ways, leading us to believe that gratefulness is something we should
strive for every day of the year!
6 Ways Being Grateful Is Good For You
Below we’ve compiled a list of six of the biggest health benefits to expressing gratitude:
- 1.Teen’s Mental Health – Grateful
teens are not only happier, but they’re also more helpful and well
behaved in school. In addition, grateful teenagers are less likely to
become depressed or jealous of their peers.
- 2.Better Grades – Those
kids with higher GPAs have been found to be more grateful for what they
have. Grateful teens also have better social lives and more
satisfaction with life.
- 3.Improves Friendships – Everyone
wants to feel appreciated. By expressing gratitude to friends and
family, you can build more meaningful relationships and strengthen
existing ones.
- 4.Improves Heart Health – Positive emotions, such as feeling thankful, can actually decrease the odds of heart disease and heart attacks.
- 5.Better Sleeping Habits – It’s
been found that people who keep a nightly gratitude journal have much
healthier sleeping habits. If you find yourself unable to sleep
peacefully, you may want to consider making a list of the things you’re
thankful for before heading to bed.
- 6.More Effective Immune System – Optimistic
people have better immune systems and tend to get sick less than
pessimists. Being grateful can lead to a much more optimistic outlook on
life!
